Vancouver, mostly a beautiful city!

We are in Vancouver for 3 nights and today we went downtown. Driving into town we crossed this fabulous bridge...

And saw a beautiful skyline...

Mostly it is a beautiful city, certainly the part most tourists and cruise ships see is. Because we drove in, we went through the east side, Vancouver's dark side.

We've been in many a large city from Los Angeos to New York,  Chicago to Atlanta and I have never seen a homeless problem like we saw in the east area of a Vancouver. It turns out it is the largest homeless pop in all of Canada. Clearly the police keep them almost sequestered in that area, we never saw anyone downtown or in the park, but in that one area it was positively scary. I'm talking hundreds of homeless for about 3-4 blocks with junk piled 6-10 ft in the air, people were walking around wearing next to nothing. Of course it was filthy too. I started to take a picture, but didn't feel right, felt like we were invading someone's hardship. Very, very sad.  That was our first exposure to the city but a mile away it was stunning.

The waterfront is gorgeous. We loved watching the sea planes take off.

How about a fill up...

We walked the whole waterfront including seeing the Olympic Caldron and a cruise ship in for the night...

and lunch at a nice waterfront spot...

Then we decided it was time to pick out a boat! Perhaps a house boat...

Or maybe this little one, check out the price tag...

Oh no, we finally found our boat, a MUCH bigger boat, clearly named for our long since passed away lab, Nova...

Not sure what she goes for but pretty sure we and 10 of our friends can't afford it together😃!
Well I got curious and we looked it up, 150 ft long, 6000 n mi range, $25M and has entertained George Bush to Oprah.  It's $25M, owned by a Canadian Billionaire, but only has 7 staterooms so I think we will pass😁, here is a link about it...

Next we headed over to Stanley Park, just a beautiful park with lovely horse drawn carriage rides to totem poles!

And finally headed toward home over another beautiful bridge, Lions Head!

More exploring the next day! We wanted to take the ferry over to Victoria on Vancouver Island but Remy was getting over a little tummy bug and we didn't want to leave the "kids" that long so that will have to wait for another trip! We headed over to Grandville Island where they have a public market with food and vegetables for sale as well as many shops and restaurants. It was so crowded, so many cars and people we never left the car. We decided to head back into town, over yet another bridge...

We passed by a beach, who knew!

And we ended up in downtown at Cordova Restaurant and Marina...

We had a wonderful view and a great lunch!

We headed back home through LOTS of traffic!

Tomorrow we head for the lower 48...can't wait to get back to the good 'ol USA, hope the Border Patrol is kind! Our next stop is Mount Ranier, WA!
