Goodbye West Glacier

Today is our last day in West Glacier! Last night Mom and Dad decided to go riding around just to see what they might find. They took a road less traveled and came across a fire ravaged area from the big 2003 fire, another followed in 2007. Interesting, the exhibit sign said thank you for the fires due to the rebirth of the forest it creates. The forest is coming back, but it takes a long time.

Then they happened upon Fising Lake, so pretty and peaceful

Low and behold they saw a new friend, a cute little woodchuck

And then they saw some cool friends, a fox and her baby fox. The first pictures of mama fox are through the windshield, far way and zoomed in, so kinda fuzzy. The pup was far away too but the window was down so a bit clearer, the baby is adorable!

Here's the pup! We love nature!

This morning Mom and Dad took off on their last West Glacier hike.  Mom thinks Dad likes wearing the bear spray container cause he thinks he's Mat Dillon or John Wayne at the OK Corral!

This was a pretty little Rocky Point Nature Trail. Mom picked it because it's elevation change was only 85 ft change....of course it changed like 5 times so Mom and Dad got their stair master workout!

The hike crossed Fish Creek, a nice little rushing creek!

Then it went along McDonald Lake, a beautiful large lake running in the middle of the West Side.

The hike ended at a nice point.

One last pic before we leave the West side...the famous red buses that take folks around that don't want to drive, they are kind if a historic part of GNP!

Now on to East Glacier Park tomorrow!
