And then we turned off onto US route 89. It may be a US route and it was beautiful, but it was scary, lots of twists and turns, too many for a big motorhome. too bad our a RV GPS didn't warn us! We found out later that another, although smaller road, is better because it is fairly straight.
Oh well, it was exciting and we arrived safely. The St Mary KOA is a typical KOA, ugh, but the view was fabulous...
There are three parts to East Glacier, so we have our work cut out for us to see some of each and maybe even the Canadian side in 4 days. We started with Many Glacier since my friend Susan went last year and had good luck with seeing wildlife there.
Driving into Many Glacier is nothing short of stunning...
Right off the bat we ran into some cute, so ugly they are cute, mountain goats.
Next we decided to tackle a small, 4 mi, relatively flat hike since we were tired from the trip.
The scenery was pretty but we weren't finding much wildlife.
We reached the waters edge and looked out across the wide lake. Wayne noticed a horse on the other side. I got out my binocs and said, "that's no horse, it's a moose!"
It was really hard to take pics so far away with the baby camera that we got out the big gun...
We left our moose girl friend and made our way on around to the waterfall at Red Rocks, very peaceful!
After a nice little rest, we started back
We passed this unusual tree, still no bear, though we looked and looked
After we returned to the parking lot we learned that the people directly behind us had seen a huge grizzly about 1/2 mi back. I was so upset we missed him, I don't know how! We got in the car, leaving wildlife for another day, but...
On the way out we spotted a mama moose and her baby, again, far way so hard to see with the camera
We were just about to leave the park and low and behold, we spotted a mama grizzly and two or three cubs sauntering across an open field headed for brush. From some of the pics we think it might be three but for sure two cubs. I have seen a black bear but never a grizzly, they are very distinctive once you see them. We were both so excited we just started snapping, sounded like a George Clooney sighting by paparazzi!
We had both cameras snapping away, the big boy really gets the faces!

You guys hit the wildlife jackpot ...how far way where you from the mama grizzly and cubs? They're super protective, for sure. Great touring along with you!
