Traffic, Construction, and the Windy City

Today we traveled from Indiana to DeForest, WI (near Madison). The first part of the trip was pretty uneventful. I was plenty happy to have Mom's undivided attention!

While we saw plenty of windmill farms out west, we didn't expect to see them in Illinois, but there they were, miles of them!

Our first decision was if we should skirt Chicago by 50 miles or go through and pay tolls. Before we knew it, the decision was made for us and Chicago here we come. I guess by all accounts it wasn't too bad, but I doubt we'd do it again.

Once we left Chicago we saw miles and miles of construction, solid from Chicago to Rockford. looked like they tore up a perfectly good road for 100 miles. Mom said something about federal funds, I have no idea what she was talking about!

We finally arrived in Wisconsin...and what did Mom and Dad find but a cheese shop! So of course they are now eating cheese with the wine they must drink before entering Canada!

All for now, Minnesota tomorrow!
