Almost made it to the Arctic Circle!

Well Mom and Dad decided to take Cinder and me on an adventure today, up to the Arctic Circle. The weather was predicted to be sunny and only 10 percent chance of rain. Every other day they have predicted 40-60% and we've had next to none....rut ro, should have told us something!

The trip started out on a nice highway with pretty scenery...

We saw long stretches of the pipeline...

As we got higher we could see the tundra line and the trees were much smaller due to the short warm growth season.

We were watching our gas carefully as no service between Fairbanks and 60 mi from the circle.  I was also worried about restroom breaks for Mom.  Well low and behold we found this little store off the grid with outhouses to boot! No gas of course!

Soon we reached the Dalton highway...120 mi to go...

The road went from pavement to dirt...

Then the rain started...

This poor fellow on a bicycle flagged us down for water

100 miles out we bagged it, with the rain the road was not pleasant, enough of an adventure...

That's okay, Cinder and I enjoyed the ride and we got home in time for lunch!
