Denali Natl Park breeds and raises Alaskan Husky Mushers. These are real working dogs that move people and products throughout the park all winter long. The dogs are more reliable than snowmobiles or ATVs when it's 50 below! These dogs are just gorgeous, bred for speed, but socialized to be sweet, adorable pups who love to run! We had the wonderful pleasure to see them up close, learn about what they do, and see a demo of musher equipment and sled from ~1930. For dog lovers like us, we were on cloud 9...
The demo was amazing, as soon as the rangers went over to pick out dogs for the demo, the dogs came alive, reminded me of five yr olds...pick me, pick me!! You could see they love to mush!
Afterwards, calm as could be again...
We were so thrilled to meet the pups and their caregivers!
Afterwards, even though it was raining, we decided to go on a shorts 2.5 mi hike. So on came even more layers than we already had...
The trip was very scenic, even in the rain!
The area is known for bears, here is what we found today...
