Dawson Creek to Fort Nelson, BC

Cinder and I slept the whole trip, so this one is up to Mom to narrate!

Well the AlCan is not what I expected, so far it is a fairly unremarkable two lane road. I think we expected horrific conditions, but not at all. Parts were very pretty, some of it had 6-9% grades which made it a bit more interesting in those places!

We haven't quite figured out the wildflower fields, they are clearly crops, maybe wheat?

We did see what I thought was a black cow down in a ditch...I should have realized that didn't make sense and pulled out the camera.  It was the biggest black bear I have ever seen...no pics😥

This bridge was kind of neat, the entire thing was grated, I guess for snow...

Our campground is packed, not a bad place, 30a, full hookups, trees and a restaurant on site with a staff that's a hoot and enjoy their jobs. They gave us free ice cream cones for Wayne's birthday! Felt like a slice of Americana but it's BC!

Crazy sights included our second coach trailing truck trailing boat...

And these nuts in mosquito wear even though no bugs! selling them we guessed...

Tonight should be interesting, it doesn't get dark here thus time of year! Tomorrow it's Laird Hot Springs, ahhh

  1. I believe the yellow flowered crop is rape. The seed makes rapeseed oil which is marketed as Canola oil. I guess no one thought there would be a big market for rapeseed oil. ;-)
