We're at the North Pole

Well last night we stayed in Tok, AK, mom says pronounced like it rhymes with poke! It was just a stop over...

This morning I was a happy camper...look at this nice smooth road on the way to Fairbanks and my smilin face!!

Along the way we saw lots of wildflowers. This flower, called fireweed because it often pops up in fire ravaged areas is bright pink, but turns brilliant orange and red in Aug/Sept

We didn't see much along the way but then Mom read in the Milepost book (it has EVERYTHING in it) about this place that processes and sells fresh local meats. Soon Mom and Dad were sampling all kinds of meats. Who wants to come for dinner? We have buffalo summer sausage for apps and then elk and yak sausage for dinner! Mom tried the reindeer but just couldn't buy it.

Eventually we reached the official end of the Alaska Highway, where Dad is looking is the monument as we flew by!

Soon we passed an important river, the Tanana...the Alaska Pipeline has one of its largest suspension crossings at a 1200 ft span!

Finally we arrived at our destination...the North Pole!

It is really a superb of Fairbanks, but they take full advantage of the name. Anyone who knows Mom well knows she loves Christmas, so she was crazy about the town!

The Santa Claus Shop was a lot of fun...

Thank goodness Cinder and I were back at the coach...where was Auntie Sharon for this...

They even had real reindeer!!

After all that fun, they went in search of a local Fairbanks Brewery...

Mom and Dad say it's gonna be a fun stop in Fairbanks!
