Jasper Day 3...wimpy hikers but pretty views!

Today we did another hike in Jasper Nat'l Park. This time we picked the Valley of the Five Lakes. It was supposed to be an easy 3 mi hike with an elevation change of 200 ft.  Yesterday our hike was listed as moderate so we thought this would be a piece of cake.  It started out fine...

But quickly got a little tough as the elevation changed numerous times...

And then it got quite a bit rougher...

We stuck it out and weren't disappointed with Five Lakes...

As the morning wore on, the temp rose to 88 deg...from fleece two days ago to sweltering! And the trail back was even more challenging!

So what do you look like when you've huffed and puffed through a tough hike? whoa, kinda scary, somebody needs help...especially hat hair and overheated face😊!

Next we decided to go up to Whistler Mountain to the Jasper Tramway. The tram climbs 3280 ft to near the 8104 ft summit. While the top of the mountain provides great views, the tram ride had us squeezed in like pigs to market and was NOT enjoyable, to boot, at $35 per person, we wouldn't do it again!  Still, the view was great in a beautiful day...

We had plans to go to downtown Jasper to shop and eat but decided to wait and go tomorrow...in shorts!

It has taken so long to post due to wifi issues I decided to add Day 4 briefly. Before heading downtown, we stopped at a few more lakea, all of them are so pretty and the mountains make even more beautiful. The first is Patricia, the second Pyramid Lake.

The second lake was designated as having a beach.  I think they need to see Hilton Head or east or west coast beach in the States.

Downtown was cute, but very pricey goods, so we resisted temptation to buy anything. lunch was good but we were planning on having burgers. Every burger we had in Canada has been nearly burned while steaks have been cooked to order and fabulous. This time we made sure we ordered medium...you aren't allowed to do that in Canada, now I know why all the burgers were burned to me, can only get them well done due to law, I guess mad cow! the beer was great and we had pizza!!

Today we head to Dawson Creek, BC, start of milepost zero on the Alaskan Highway although we won't reach Alaska for a few days. We loved Jasper, we noted that first two days we saw much more wildlife but it was cooler, once it warmed up the animals retreated, so glad we came early as the sightings were fabulous in cool weather. On to Alaska, I hope this posts this morning!
